  • She finds freedom in travel, finds family within new homes, and faces challenges with discrimination.

  • Zada’s beauty and power derived of exploration is stinted by restrictions and immigrant profiling.

  • While exploring the romance of expedition, we subtly remind viewers that it’s not hospitable to everyone.

Natural lighting and organic handheld movements keeps the content feeling raw. Muted colour tones (as seen in reference video) are offset by Zada’s vibrant wardrobe (not seen in reference).

Our Elements

 

Squamish (1 day shoot)

Old-growth forests. Lakes. Rivers. Ocean.

  1. Zada walks towards a small aircraft, climbs into the passenger seat and takes off. We see Zada’s face as she flies over Pacific mountains, looking down on the world below her.  (Handheld (HH) + Mounts)

  2. Zada in a Squamish forest. A sunbathed Chief cliff is in the background. (HH + Drone)

  3. Zada pitches a canvas tent at dusk. As the light fades, a pickup truck rolls up and a park ranger comes to interrogate. Zada has to pack up her tent in the dark as the ranger watches. (HH)

  4. Zada starts a small fire and and sits by it, looking at the flames dancing in the fading light. (HH)

  5. It’s now daylight. Zada is invited by some kind campers to sit by a campervan and play guitar/sing/ eat with them. She’s found a version of home. (HH)

Ashcroft (1.5 day shoot)

Rolling hills. Roads that extend into the distance.

  1. Zada walks a field in Ashcroft (off Horse ranch) (Drone + Handheld (HH))

  2. Zada rides a horse through a field (HH + Drone)

  3. Zada drives a car (HH from a chase vehicle + HH Interior +Drone)

  4. Zada’s car is broken down. She walks the road hitchhiking. While walking, she performs Nomad. (HH)

  5. As Zada walks through a smaller town, people stare. She feels their eyes. (HH)

Vancouver / Lower Mainland (1 day shoot)

Urban lifestyle. Concrete. People.

  1. At night, Zada is trying to sleep in her vehicle in a parking lot. She's woken up to the flashing yellow lights from a security guard vehicle. The security guard inspects her and her vehicle before telling her to keep moving. (Handheld)

  2. Zada’s big musical performance that’s referenced throughout the video: Zada sits atop a pile of luggage under a tree. She is a queen of travel. This is our chance to feel her inner power. (Steadicam)

  3. (as if in the Ashcroft location) Zada is provided with a home, dinner, and shelter by a caring family. (HH)

ZADA

  • Unlike a typical northwest traveler, Zada does not adorn Gortex and Blundstones.

  • Etheopian-inspired colorful fashion will have Zada popping against unsaturated landscapes.

  • Zada carries her life in her trunks/luggage as she adventures.
